In summer, it offers all kinds of services and exudes a family-friendly atmosphere. The municipality also boasts the beautiful beaches of Cala Sant Vicenç: Cala Molins — with fine sand —, Cala Carbó, which is gravelly and pebbly, Cala Clara, fairly busy due to the proximity of a large hotel, and Cala Barques, the largest beach, with fine, white sand. People who love hiking and solitude can reach the remote coves of Cala Castell and Cala Bóquer. And to enjoy a glamorous day of sun and sea, the best option is Formentor beach, with pine trees that kiss the transparent water, near to which stands the legendary luxury establishment, the Hotel Formentor.

Moors and Christians
Pollença holds its fiestas on 2nd August, the day of Mare de Déu dels Àngels, and the most important act is the re-enactment of the battle of 1550 in which the local residents – led by the local hero, Joan Mas – defeated the pirates under the orders of the dreaded Dragut. On this day, in the afternoon, Joan Mas and Dragut stage their encounter and the enjoyable confrontation begins, with perfectly-disguised pollencins one either side, armed with sticks and wooden swords. The route runs through the centre of the village and ends up on the old football ground, the scene of the final battle. After the victory, the Christians go to the parish church to sing the Tedéum and thank their patron saint for her protection.
