The botanical gardens on the Costa Brava grouped mediterranean species with exotic plants from the tropics.

Marimurtra Gardens, Pinya de Rosa Gardens, Santa Clotilde-Gardens, and Cap Roig Gardens, are places fi lled with poetry and beauty, capable of transporting those who visit them far away from their daily distractions.

The Marimurtra Botanical Garden, in Blanes, was created in 1921, by the German scientist Karl Faust, who gathered more than species from all over the world. The site houses the International Station of Mediterranean Biology.

The Pinya de Rosa Tropical Botanical Garden, in Blanes, was built by Ferran Rivière de Caralt in 1945 and has more than 7.000 species of different genera. The most noteworthy features of collection include the aloe and cactus families, considered the best in the world.

Santa Clotilde Gardens, in Lloret de Mar, were designed in 1919 by Nicolau Maria Rubió and are notable for their lack of flowers, in contrast to the huge variety of plants found there. Th e mansion in the garden houses 4 important collections of painting, tapestry, miniature ship and ceramic.

Cap Roig Botanical Gardens, in Calella de Palafrugell, was created in the mid 20’s by marriage Woevodsky who built a castle surrounded by gardens. This park, with local and foreign species, becomes the stage of one of the most successful cultural events of the summer, the Jardins de Cap Roig Festival.
