Descripción Datos de contacto

The Costume Museum opened its doors in 2004, offering an overview of the history of clothing in Spain from the most remote times to the present day, thanks to the great diversity and scope of its collections, which are formed by over 160,000 pieces and documents. Installed in the first building to be built in Spain specifically to house a museum, in 1971, this structure is perfectly accommodated to its function, with multi-purpose rooms, ease of movement and flexibility of design. The exhibition is arranged in two different areas. One provides a chronological view extending from the 18th century to our days, with monographic rooms that are devoted to regional costume, Mariano Fortuny and Cristóbal Balenciaga. The other is an educational area which makes use of interactive modules to present social, technological and moral aspects of costume.
