In the heart of Madrid, a building from 1900 that housed the first Mahou Brewery is now the home of this innovative cultural institution devoted to drawing and illustration. Its over 3,000 sq.m. of space on six floors accommodate two large exhibition halls, multifunctional spaces, art storerooms, a restoration laboratory, warehouses, a café and other facilities. The ABC Collection, comprising nearly 200,000 original works of art, was started in 1891 and now covers over a century of graphic art gathered from the work of more than 1,500 artists of all styles, techniques and trends in drawing and illustration. In addition to caring for the conservation, study and dissemination of the ABC Collection, this new museum is a vibrantly dynamic space sheltering disciplines like comics and animation.
