La Casa Encendida is an open and dynamic social and cultural centre characterized by its lively proposals and the participation of a very diverse public. In the heart of the Lavapiés neighbourhood, it hosts everything from the most avant-garde artistic expressions to courses and workshops in areas like the environment, education or solidarity. Its cultural programme comprises performing arts, cinema, exhibitions and other contemporary creation activities. From its beginnings, La Casa Encendida has supported young creators in the development of their initiatives through projects like “Emergences”, “En Casa/At Home” or “Artists in Residence”. It also has a fully equipped resource centre (book library, media library, periodicals library, and a radio, photography and multimedia laboratory) open to everyone.
