The number of hotels for travellers looking for luxury establishments where they can enjoy the cuisine and relax in exclusive settings is on the rise. These are all perfect bases for exploring a new destination in style.

A stay at a comfortable and inviting hotel with exclusive amenities is a reality in establishments like the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona. Located at the sophisticated Passeig de Gràcia in the heart of Barcelona’s luxury shopping and leisure district, it stands near the city’s best restaurants and boutiques as well as a number of indispensable sights like the Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter. What’s more, it’s just a few steps away from two masterpieces of the Modernista architect Antoni Gaudí —La Pedrera and the Casa Batlló—, and from the wonderful Casa Amatller, by Josep Puig i Cadafalch.

The hotel occupies a totally refurbished building from the mid 20th century and features  a spectacular interior design by Patricia Urquiola, one of Spain’s most internationally renowned designers. Its 120 guest rooms, including splendid suites with butler service, are marked by their contemporary style and Oriental touches, evoking the origin of the brand. The hotel also has elegant spaces for the holding of all types of special events, such as meetings and banquets.

Master chef Carme Ruscalleda directs the cuisine here and it may be enjoyed in two restaurants: Blanc —peaceful, luminous and elegantly white—, and Moments, holding two Michelin stars for its healthy creative cooking, directed by Carme together with her son, Raül Balam. The interior garden Mimosa invites guests to enjoy the Mediterranean climate, and they can also relax at the Banker’s Bar or on the roof deck at Terrat —which features the culinary delights of the acclaimed Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio in the summer.
