Under the slogan of "Lights, camera, Madrid", the 28th edition of the Madrid Film Festival exceeds 7000 spectators for the fourth consecutive year, consolidating itself in the Madrid capital.

After 28 editions, the Madrid Film Festival has grown to become an important event in the city’s cultural panorama. Indeed, this is Madrid’s oldest cinema event and since its first edition in 1991 it has come to be an essential showcase for the emerging productions which it screens and promotes, presenting a very interesting selection of the best non-commercialized Spanish movies.

The festival, which takes place in October, puts the spotlight on new film makers, acting as a meeting place that’s always in search of new stories and creators who need a place to display their work. With its own distinctive personality, the Madrid Film Festival is an indispensable event for cinema fans and a focus of attention in all Spain that is growing more international. That’s why its special guests from abroad in recent years have included Hanna Schygulla, Gary Graver, Nicolas Philibert and Corneliu Porumboiu.

In addition to discovering new film talents, the Madrid Film Festival lets visitors become acquainted with such emblematic places in the city as the Cine Doré, an iconic film theatre that opened back in 1912 and now helps to foster contemporary Spanish cinema productions with its screenings.
