There’s no end to clubs where you listen to live jazz in Barcelona and the year’s biggest event here brings together a number of the best Spanish and international jazz artists.
The Barcelona International Jazz Festival has become a world leader in its field thanks to its original way of balancing its programme with the performances of big names and new talents. The line-up for its 51st edition, which will be running from September of 2019 to February of 2020, features such well-known artists as Andrea Motis, Estrella Morente, Djavan and Herbie Hancock, among others. Some of the concerts will be held in emblematic venues of Barcelona like the Palau de la Música Catalana, which is a setting of tremendous beauty but small seating capacity so the appearances of the musicians there will be all the more memorable.
The festival has different types of passes with the aim of letting people choose the one that suits them best. For example, one includes a wine-tasting experience at Monvínic, featuring an intimate performance of Andrea Motis. Her duo with the guitarist, Josep Traver, will be interpreting music inspired by the wines that the audience will be tasting, wines selected by Monvínic’s team of sommeliers. Free concerts, master classes by top-ranking figures, conferences, and talks with artists are just some of the side events that will be taking place at the Barcelona International Jazz Festival, a great occasion for enjoying good music and the passion for jazz.
