JazzMadrid16, a festival that promises over six hours a day of music to enthusiasts of the genre, is to be held from 25th October to 30th November. The programme consists of around a hundred concerts with artists like Dave Holland, Madeleine Peyroux, Gregory Porter, Pablo Martín Caminero or Javier Colina, amongst other big names.

This year’s festival practically doubles the number of performances it offers compared to previous years, and also organises numerous parallel activities in several spaces in Madrid. One important aspect is the prominence of women, who occupy over a third of the billings. And one of the big novelties is the solid schedule of blues as the sister genre of jazz.

These five weeks of jazz attract audiences from all over the world. In this regard, Celia Mayer, the Culture and Sports delegate of Madrid City Council highlights the fact that “we continue to be committed to a broad-reaching, quality programme to make this festival a beacon both for the citizens of Madrid and for people who decide to travel to Madrid to come to this date with international jazz (…) Last year’s festival had 20% of tourists amongst the audience, and we continue to work to ensure the festival entices jazz enthusiasts to visit our city ".
