Park Güell
Parks and gardens

This park was the idea of Eusebi Güell, who commissioned Antoni Gaudí to build a garden city here beside his estate, Can Montaner. The works lasted fourteen years (1900 – 1914). The main entrance leads to a large stairway. The two central squares are of special note: the first one is the Hall of the Hundred Columns (there are actually only 86), which was planned to accommodate the housing development's market, and the other is the Grand Circular Plaza, from where one enjoys a magnificent view of the city. The main gate is also the site of the celebrated Dragon Fountain.
