Barcelona combines its avant-garde ideas with design, quality and tradition as is reflected in its display windows. Shops presenting the most prestigious international brands stand side by side with time-honoured local establishments that have lots of personality and high standards of excellence. Indeed, shops form part of the city’s essence, offering a unique shopping experience which distinguishes Barcelona from other cities, with its vintage stores, gourmet shops, handicrafts and own designs.

The Catalan capital is crossed by various shopping lines which run through its different neighbourhoods, forming long series of splendid modern establishments and small traditional shops offering personal customer service.

Of special note are the Creu Coberta and Gaudí Shopping Lines and Gaixample, all three of which are outstanding commercial areas. Encants Barcelona, the city’s open air flea market, stands in a highly innovative architectural space.

Barcelona Shopping Line
For people who love to go shopping, the Barcelona Shopping Line is one of the biggest continuous series of commercial establishments in Europe. This shopping line extends 5 km across the central city, forming a wonderful walk where commerce goes hand in hand with the architectural heritage and culture.

Discover the contrast of its shop areas in the avant-garde style, in Modernista buildings or in fabulous contemporary shopping centres and department stores, stretching along the Ramblas, La Ribera, the Gothic Quarter, Plaça Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia, Rambla de Catalunya and Avinguda Diagonal.

Non-residents of the European Union can conveniently handle the formalities for obtaining a cash refund of VAT in the city centre’s tourist information offices to save time and continue enjoying their stay.

Ask at your hotel’s front desk for the Barcelona Shopping Map and the Barcelona Shopping Guide, both available in eight languages.
